12/8/21 A new page called Guest Poetry has been added to my site. The first guest poem is by Andy Bugby a local Coventry man who has penned this poem to commemotarate Coventry City of Culture year.

6/11/18 I am pleased to introduce Clarence the lion. Clarence features in my poem Why can't we let lions be from my book  Clive's High Flying Poems. I have adapted the poem with illustrations into a You Tube video for children. It will be on my You Tube site in the next few days and I will post a link. 


17/4/2018 Plastic Wizzard are currently in the studio recording their new album. The new album will be released summer 2018.


7/2/2018 Poetry slams have become very popular. They are almost a cross between poetry and rap and are generally performed. I thought I would try something new to kick off the New Year, so I have written my latest poem in this format.


6/2/2018 New poem in Love Poems. A new poem called The Note has been entered on my Love Poem page Love. This is a sad poem about lovers being apart and the regular trip to the prison to be together for a few valuable moments.


2/10/17 My poem Midnight Movie has been transformed into a Plastic Wizzard song and thanks to Trevor Atkins of has been bought to life in a video. Check it out on You Tube 


 30/9/17 The National Poetry Competition 2017 run by the Poetry Society is only a month away from closing. Make sure to get your entries in by the end of October.


29/9/17 The Stokestown International Poetry Competition 2018  has been launched. Ireland's longest running competition is open for entries until 1st December 2017 First Prize £2000 and a weeks Residency.

19/9/17 Plastic Wizzard have just launched a new single and it is available on cdbaby, iTunes and Spotify. It is based on a poem by Clive Atkins and is about all the old movies we love to watch and doze to late at night.Plastic Wizzard

14/2/17 We are entering a busy time for poetry competitions and there are a couple to have a look at. The first is the prestigious Bridport Prize which has a Prize of £5000. It is for Poems upto 42 lines long on any theme closing at the end of May. .The Fish publishing poetry competition has a Prize of £1000 and has a generous word limit of 300. It is open until 31/3/17 . The third competition is the Ver Poets open which has a Prize of £600 and is for Poems of up to 30 lines.

09/1/16 Happy new year to all my readers. The Magma Poetry Competition closes on 16th January2017  This has a short poem entry of upto 10 lines for those of you that like a challenge and a longer version of upto 40 words.


18/12/16 Laura the new single written by Clive Atkins is now featured on Spotify and YouTube.



9/12/16 Plasric Wizzard's new single Laura has been realeased. It features the title song, an acoustic version and an instrumental version. The single is available on iTunes for download and can be listened too on You Tube. 2 other songs are being worked on in the studio and will be published in the new year. Have a really good Christmas and a happy new year.


28/10/16 Plastic Wizzard are in the studios recording two new songs that I have written. They are entitled Midnight Movie and Laura It is hoped that they will be published on iTunes before Christmas.

24/5/16 Nearly there. My new book has had its final proof reading and I hope to have it available in the next 2/3 weeks. It will have 153 poems on a wide range of topics.

12/12/15 Railway to the Grave is a new mysterious poem inspired by the book of the same name by Edward Marston. This poem is the first prevue from the new so far untitled book from Clive Atkins which is due to be published in the new year.

19/11/14 Theatre Cloud have been running a series of plays called Regeneration and they are commemorating 100 years since the start of WW11. In conjunction with the plays they have been running a competition of poems inspired by the works of Siegried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen. Have a look at their website
